The largely pro-Russian parliament of Crimea, an autonomous region of Ukraine, said on June 5 it was against planned military exercises involving Ukrainian and NATO forces in Crimea. The Sea Breeze 2006 exercises are due to start this month and continue to August in Crimea, a peninsula on the Black Sea coast in the south of the former Soviet state.
