Russia's future to a considerable extent hinges on the ability of its business community to become a national bourgeoisie, a senior Kremlin official said in the text of a speech published Friday.

These guy sounds rather smart. I'm impressed that he speaks from something other than sheer pride, and has an eye towards Russia's future. Personally, I have felt that Russia's infrastructure (roads, communication, airports and planes ... just to start) needs to improve, in order to spread potential wealth and affluence beyond the borders of Moscow. The hyper-wealthy in Russia are doing very well, and things are slowly improving for the average Russian - but a real merchant middle-class barely exists, particularly outside of Moscow.
